What formats are out there???

Looking in magazines and billboards you will find that they have wil sometimes and mostly have album adverts in them. Take leona Lewis new album 'Echo' it was in magazines, on the back cover of them, on billboards and adverts on televison. This is a very good way to promote a new album as more people will be able to see it.

Our progress...

We still havent been able to film due to weather conditions, which I think is going to be the reason for quite a while so I think we need to look at changing it slightly. We have started our digi packs which means that we are not stuck with things to do.

Mystery jets- young love!!!!

This is bare minimal but very effective. It is shot in the same place the whole time where as our video is shot in numerous places, we wanted it to be the exact opposite to the original and more updated as we think it will appeal more to our target audience. We are having three boys and 1 girl but the original is just a band of boys and Laura Marling is just featuring in it. Mixing up the band with both sexes we thought it would appeal to boys and girls instead of just one gender.

I really like the video to this song, it's simple but effective in the way it makes you pay more attention to the lyrics in the song instead of a busy extravagant video full of half naked dancers dancing on brand new expensive cars.

The Inspiration...

These are only a couple shots for Factory girl, the film we are using as our inspiration. As you can slightly see from these shots some of the camera work was done documentary style. Also in some parts of the film e.g. the scene where they are walking in the park the camera looks hand held, I liked this style as I thought it let the audience engage more because when she spun round the audience spun round and when she stumbled the audience felt like they were stumbling, I know this may seem like your on a roller coaster, but (and i know this may sound cheesy) you were in a way because her life was so crazy and there were so many ups and downs your on the metaphorical roller coaster that is her life.

thinking back so far...

We are currently doing the storyboards for our music videos and its harder than I thought because you have to have so many and then put them to the right part of the song so it looks right. It took so long when putting them into an animatic which just didnt want to go right for the group. There is alot of instrumental parts in the song; it was difficult deciding what apart goes where and would look right in that part.

Profile for our band......

Name:- F.u.d.g.e

No. of members in the group:- 4 (3 men and 1 woman)

Where they are from:- Devon, Plymoth

How the band got together:- They met in school and were all friends and decided to put a band together, as they all knew they had musical talent and thought it would be a great way to fill up spare time.

How they come up with their name:- They played on the stereotype that all people from devon are thick, that you can spell fudge with their A level results.

Ideologies:- They love doing charity work and just taking everyday as it comes. They do alot of charity events raising money for a charity's that have sentimental value to them.

How they broke into the buisness:- They started putting the material on social networks such as Myspace and Facebook and stared doing small gigs in the area they lived in and Domino Records got hold of this and signed them thinking they would be as popular as the Arctic Monkeys.

The record lable they are signed to:- Domino Records (Arctic Monkeys record label)

Our Song....

As I said in an earlier post we was going to do our music video on F**k you by Lily Allen but after discussing this with Miss Whitaker and her saying that it would be offensive we have now decided to go with "Young Love" by Mystery Jets another one our favourites. We are looking forward to this as we now think we will get alot more ideas for it and it will be alot easier but still challenge us.
As of yet we have no ideas for it yet but that will soon come in lessons and in individual study periods.
The song is very sweet and is about a boy that is in love with a girl and about trying to find her, I got an idea of twisting this and making it as if the boy was this girls stalker that grew this affection for this girl and wants to know where she live; and everything about her.
the original music video for this is very plain it is just the Mystery jets laying on a white floor singing and being pulled about on these large skate boards so that's another reason why I like my idea as it is nothing like the original and actually gives the song a secret meaning. I haven;t pitched this to the group as of yet but am doing so tomorrow.

Anything for love by meatloaf

I love this music video and chose to put it on here as I like the way it converges with the lyrics to tell the love story. I think you could watch the video without the music and know what it's about and understand it. It's a powerful song and video. An all time classic!!

Thinking of music videos.......

I like music videas that help the song tell the story and even if you didnt have the music you would be able to understand what the song was on about from the video I also like music videos that stand out and are unique. I want to have fun filming this music video and want to show it through the video. the song we have chose is Fuck you by Lily Allen, this song had meaning and is really good so we decide that we would do it to that. I am looking forward to this project i think im going to learn alot and im looking forward to doing the vidoeing and being the director and giving the song justice.

Buttons by Pussy cat Dolls feat Snoop Dogg

The Background on the Pussy Cat Dolls!!!!!

From This¬

To This!!!!
I chose to research into the band the Pussy Cat Dolls i think they are very contraversal as they are the definition of the saying sex sells.

The group originated as a burlesque in 1995 in Los Angeles, it wasn't after they started attracting national that choreographer Robin Antin who founded them as a burlesque group negotiated a record deal with A&M records and interscope records in 2003.

In 2005 their first album PCD went to number 5 on the U.S billboard 200 chart which had the successful songs 'Don't cha', 'Buttons', 'Stick wit' 'u'. The group won a grammy for the single Stick wit u. In 2008 the group released their second album 'Doll Domination' which included the success 'When i grow up', 'I hate this part', 'whatcha think about that', 'Jai Ho (you are my destiny)' and their newest single 'Hush hush; hush hush'. Over the 5 years of fame the band have been criticized for its overly sexual image and explicit dance routines and for their lead singer Nicole Scherzinger always singing lead in all their songs not sharing the lime light.

Rough Trade!! (i do like this one)

When researching this record company for my A.s i found it very interesting and i am a big fan of some of the artists so thats why i decided to redo my research for it for this year.
roguh trade was founded in 1978 by Geoff Travis and then in 1987 Jeanette Lee become an equal partner.
Rough Trade started as a record shop and then evovled into a record label. In 1980 rough trade had grown into a large company and moved to a bigger premises on blenheim crescent.

The Mystery Jets
The Strokes
Scritti Politti
These are just some of the bands/artists taht are part of the Rough Trade.

Collage of music genres I like....

I wanted to practice using photoshop as I have not used it much before and i didnt want to do something that had nothing to do with media and what we would be doing for it so I came up with a collage of music genres I like. It is not a master piece but it is my first attempt and i dont think it is that bad.
